The New York Giants need to win on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Is their season over if they do not? No. They have won a championship before after starting 0-2. The thing is their schedule is the toughest in the league which can make 0-2 a rough road to come back from. Here are a few parts of the team that need to step up this week.
Victor Cruz: Cruz had three drops last week. That can’t happen again. He knows he’s now a marked man by opposing defensive coordinators and he needs to step up this week. If the Giants are going to win this week, he can’t drop passes like he did
The Defensive Line: With the weaknesses in the secondary, the pass rush needs to get to the quarterback and put pressure. The strength of the defense is the line. The Giants had two sacks, but Tony Romo looked very comfortable in week one and was able to scramble and make plays from outside the pocket. Josh Freeman isn’t as mobile, however they still need to get to him.
The Offensive Line: Ahmad Bradshaw had 78 yards rushing. 33 of it was on one play. If the Giants are going to be successful this year they have to run the ball effectively. A big key to their run last year was the improved running game in the playoffs. They also allowed three sacks last week and Eli Manning was under a lot of pressure throughout the game. They need to do better against a young, athletic defensive line that the Bucs have.
