After one week in the books against one of the best teams in the NFL, the Tennessee Titans now have a better idea of what they need as far as adjustments go. Knowing they have had to cut many players in the past weeks was hard, but sometimes you have to alter the team even after you reach the 53-man roster. It’s just a given.
Yesterday the Titans signed Deuce Lutui, a guard that has spent six seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and just recently spent a season with the Seattle Seahawks, but the Seahawks cut him during training camp.
Apparently Lutui visited with the Titans last week and head coach Mike Munchak liked what he saw. The two sides agreed to a one year contract. Lutui has played a total of 93 games so far in his NFL career.
Today, the Titans also said goodbye to two players. Troy Kropog who doubled as a tackle and a guard was released as well as defensive end Pannel Egboh.
You may be thinking, they just got done cutting a lot of guys to get to 53 men, can’t the team wait more than a week to see if bigger plays can be made?
First of all, this is the NFL, people come and go like it’s nobody’s business. Only that’s just it. It is a business. Not only that, but you didn’t forget about Kenny Britt did you? The suspension was only for one game, and in the NFL you are not counted towards the 53 man roster while suspended. The team needed the room.
Little adjustments will continue to be made throughout the year, like every other team does. The Titans are doing it for that playoff spot that they so desperately want.
