New Orleans Saints wide receiver Devery Henderson suffered a head injury in the week one loss to the Washington Redskins. Henderson did in fact suffer a concussion after taking a hit this past Sunday and did not practice Thursday or Wednesday.
In the latest string of NFL Rumors it appears that Henderson will not play in week two against the Carolina Panthers. Losing Henderson is a big loss for the Saints as he is the team’s number two receiver and one of the more reliable receivers on the roster.
If Henderson does not play against the Panthers wide receiver Joseph Morgan will likely get a few more looks from quarterback Drew Brees. Henderson made a lone catch for 11 yards before heading to the locker room with his head injury on Sunday.
While losing Henderson would be a big loss for the Saints it will not completely cripple them. However, as of late the Saints’ receiving corps have been looking a little thin as some key players have suffered injuries of various degrees. With Brees at quarterback the Saints’ offense should not be too much of a concern and Brees can work with any receiver he has.
It looks like Henderson will likely be out for week two and there is no telling when he returns. The NFL takes concussions very seriously and Henderson will no doubt have to pass a few tests before he can return.
If anything, Henderson will have time to rest up and make sure he comes back 100 percent. The Saints’ offense will still be dynamic but if Henderson is out for week two they will definitely be missing him.
