A terrific match up in NFL takes place this weekend when the Atlanta Falcons take on the San Diego Chargers.  Both of these teams are trying to improve their records in the month of September, which should only add to this game’s intensity.

The Falcons come into this game with an overall record of 2-0.  They are coming off an impressive win over the Broncos with a final score of 27-21.  In their win, Matt Ryan went on to throw for 219 yards and he had 2 touchdowns.  His poise and quarterback IQ was on full display in their latest game, and they will need the same type of cerebral play if they want to beat the Chargers this weekend.  In terms of rushing, Michael Turner went on to rush for 1 touchdown.  Roddy White also had a break out game as he a touchdown of his own and had 102 yards in receiving.

The Chargers are coming into this game with a record of 2-0 as well.  They are coming off a terrific performance against the Titans with a final score of 38-10.  In their win, Philip Rivers went on to throw for 284 yards and had 3 touchdowns.  In terms of rushing, Jackie Battle went on to rush for 2 touchdowns.  They will need this type of balanced attack if they want to defeat the Falcons this weekend.

This match up displays two excellent offenses that can score in a hurry.  For the Falcons, they will need Matt Ryan to find the open receivers down field.  He will need to find Julio Jones and Roddy White early and often.  Tony Gonzales will also be a go-to target in this match up because he isn’t showing signs of slowing down.  For the Chargers,  they will need Philip Rivers to execute down field and avoid turnovers as much as possible.  Jackie Battle will also need to come through in order to open up the Charger’s passing game.  If they can do this, then they have a great shot at going 3-0.
