About Last Night: New York Giants Beat Carolina Panthers

Bob Donnan-US PRESSWIRE

The New York Giants went into Carolina after their comeback win on Sunday, and on a short week without key personnel, beat the Carolina Panthers 36-7. Here are some takeaways from the game.

Killer B’s: As I said during the game on twitter (p.s. Follow me @jasonjpevans) the Giants rode the killer B’s to victory. Andre Brown ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Ramses Barden surpassed his reception total of last year in this game leading the team with nine catches for 138 yards and Martellus Bennett caught six for 73 yards and his third touchdown in as many games as he’s played with Big Blue. Those guys needed to step up if the Giants had any shot of winning and that’s what they did.

Toeing The Line: The Giants offensive and defensive lines were the key to the game. Eli Manning was only sacked twice during the game and the other rare times he had someone in his face, he was able to get free and make something happen. The Giants defensive line was able to hold the Carolina rushing game to a meager 60 yards. When Carolina wasn’t running, Cam Newton was running to get away from the pressure. The Giants sacked him twice and made him throw three interceptions.

Nightly Special: The Giants special teams also stepped up. Lawrence Tynes went 5/5 in his field goal attempts. The Giants also recovered two Joe Adams fumbles and turned them into two of Tynes’ five field goal attempts.

The Giants will now have an 11 day layoff before taking on the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday night.
