Unless you’re living under a rock, you are aware of the replacement referee situation in the NFL. And if you are living under a rock then this is the play that has all of Twitter, Facebook and the rest of the world riled up and ready for the referee lockout to end as soon as possible:

According to the NFL rules, if both players come down with simultaneous possession in the endzone, the result of the play is a touchdown. In the GreenBay Packers case, this didn’t happen. As wide receiver Golden Tate is coming down, you notice that he doesn’t have full possession of the football. When they both get the ball, you notice that M.D. Jennings has complete possession.

It’s clearly an interception by the defensive back, but the refs declared the play a touchdown allowing the Seattle Seahawks to defeat the Green Bay Packers.

Soon after the game multiple players take to Twitter to express how they feel about the replacement refs:

With players lashing out against the officials that can decide whether a team wins or loses, you have to wonder how Roger Goodell will approach the referee lockout situation. If they want things decided quick, fast and in a hurry, then the owners may have to step in to provide some influence to show how important the refs are to the game. As for the referees, they have to be thinking that they are in for a pay day because they hold all of the leverage entering Week 4.

As a fan of the game, it’s making it harder for me to sit here and tolerate these things and though the NFL will continue to make money regardless of who’s officiating the games, they have to fix this just to protect their product.
