NFL Officials: Controversy is A-Brewin' Amidst Packers/Seahawks Finish

As a great announcer once said, ‘you wanna talk about controversy!?’

Controversy is the only word running through my mind as I’m writing this article. I’ve just witnessed one of the strangest finishes to a ball game that I’ve ever seen in my life.

Are you kidding me? Did that just happen? Is this real life? Just a few questions off the tip of my tongue.

Fan of the Green Bay Packers or not, they just got screwed. Royally, clearly, screwed.

The officials had a chance to get it right, and they didn’t. Missing the call on the field is not the main issue here, even though the head official was clearly mistaken with his ruling of touchdown. The play went to the booth, and I’m just not sure what they saw up there.

I think we all could see that M.D. Jennings was in clear possession of the football as he went to the ground fighting with Golden Tate. Tate fought the best he could, but Jennings clearly intercepted the pass. There’s no way that’s a touchdown, it’s game over, Packers win.

We can all hope that this is the final straw with the NFL Officials lockout. The league has to take control of this situation. A team just lost a game that it shouldn’t have. They lost the game because of a blown call by the replacement officials.

This is not right.

An agreement must be reached, because the integrity of the game is now in question. A few blown calls here or there is one thing, but getting the outcome of a game wrong is another.

The ‘officials storyline’ will unfortunately take away from a great defensive effort by the Seattle Seahawks, and that’s just not fair to them or anyone involved.

It shouldn’t have come to this, but we’re here folks. Something has to get done, soon. We all know that money is a big part of football, but at what point is it worth more than the game itself?
