The Seattle Seahawks win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night has been over shadowed by the controversial call that gave the Seahawks the win but there is still much more to this contest than the refs messing up a call.
The defense of Seattle held the offense of the Packers to only two field goals and a touchdown. The usually high powered offense led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggled the entire night to get into a rhythm. Rodgers ended the night without a single touchdown pass while the running game of the Packers totaled only 84-yards on the night.
The big story of this game should be about the defensive line of the Seahawks who came up with eight sacks in the game using a four man rush.
The defensive line led by defensive end Chris Clemons attacked Rodgers the entire first half earning all eight sacks in two quarters. Clemons had four sacks himself while defensive tackle Brandon Mebane and first round draft pick Bruce Irvin game up with two sacks each.
The Seahawks offense struggled throughout the night after Russell Wilson’s first touchdown pass but the defense continued to keep them in the game forcing the Packers to punt the ball six times.
It is clear the defensive line of the Seahawks had the home crowd behind them as they put up this impressive performance that is going unseen due to how the game ended.
Clemons should how big of an asset he can be and proved he is the leader of this defensive line.
Seattle needs to bring this pressure every night especially when they go on the road to face the St. Louis Rams next week.
