Texans vs. Titans NFL Week 4 Preview

By Joe Serenka

Week 4 of the NFL season matches up the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans in an AFC South division clash. The Texans are 3-0 and coming off a victory against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. The Texans have shown this season that they have a dominate defense and the ability to score on the ground or through the air. Last week Texans quarterback Matt Schaub threw for 4 touchdowns in the victory over the Broncos. The previous week the Texans flashed their power in the running game as both Arian Foster and Ben Tate had big games against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Titans enter the game with a 1-2 record after an overtime win against the Detroit Lions last week. Titans quarterback Jake Locker has been productive in his first year as a starter but running back Chris Johnson has been a different story. Through three games Johnson has only 45 yards rushing and is averaging 1.4 yards per carry. As the focal point of Titans offense over the past few years it is troubling that he cannot gain any traction against opposing defenses.

Coming into this game the injury story focuses on the top receivers on each team. For the Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson was limited in practice on Thursday. Look for the Texans to concentrate on the running game if he is not 100% on Sunday. For the Titans wide receiver, Kenny Britt missed practice on Thursday. If he is unable to go the Titans offense could be in trouble because of the struggling Chris Johnson. A one dimensional offense will have problems against this Texans defense.

This is a down year for the AFC South as the main contenders are considered the Texans and the Titans. The Texans have looked strong with a 3-0 record winning each game convincingly. The Titans have struggled this season winning only one game and had to go to overtime to get the victory. Their defense has under achieved as the lowest point total they have allowed is 34 against the Patriots. It is a division game so the unexpected can happen but based on talent alone the Texans look to dominate. Final score Texans 35, Titans 10.
