Edelman Ruled Out, Mankins/Gronk Questionable

Evan Habeeb-US PRESSWIRE

That noise you hear right now are the Buffalo Bills defenders cheering because they won’t have to worry about one less threat during their Week 4 match-up against the New England Patriots.

Call it bad timing for Julian Edelman as the receiver was having a very productive year so far. In three games, he’s accumulated 10 receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown. He’s been targeted 15 times this season which is seven more times than last season. It’s also the fourth-most out of the receiving core, three less than tight-end star Rob Gronkowski (18).

With Edelman gone, it’ll likely mean more playing time for Deion Branch who was cut by the team during preseason then picked up before their Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

As for Gronkowski and offensive lineman Logan Mankins, both have been added to the injury report due to hip injuries. Gronk’s injury came during practice as reported by Boston Herald’s beat reporter Jeff Hoew. While both are questionable for Week 4, it’ll be more likely that Gronk is on the field come Sunday. As for Mankins, according to reports, has missed practice every day this week which may signal for him missing the game.

Rotation players that were added to the injury report include defensive lineman Kyle Love (knee) and cornerback Sterling Moore.

Aaron Hernandez (leg) has officially been ruled out of Week 4, but don’t expect to see him for at least two more weeks.

Other players on the list include rookie CB Alfonzo Dennard (hamstring), RB Shane Vereen (foot), OL Nick McDonald (right shoulder), rookie DL Justin Francis, and OL Sebastian Vollmer (back)
