When you’re on the top of the mountain, there’s always someone who wants to take shots at you to try and knock you down. Case in point, the Atlanta Falcons’ Roddy White, who called out the New York Giants‘ Victor Cruz in an interview with NFL Network.

White was asked about what he thought of the Giants’ reciever. White said:

Victor Cruz is a lot more of a slot receiver; the big boys play on the outside,” White said.

Cruz responded: “I couldn’t care less about what anybody else has to say,” Cruz told the Star-Ledger. “I got a ring back at home. I don’t care about what Roddy White has to say.”

Apparently, this isn’t the first time White has talked about Cruz. White said Cruz was going to get a “rude awakening” in their playoff game and we all know how well that worked out.

The two teams meet up week 15 in Atlanta, so these comments may resurface at that point.

I’m not sure why White wants to start stuff with Cruz. White and Cruz are both excellent wide receivers in the league. It’s not like there’s a huge rivalry between the Falcons and the Giants either.

Just because Cruz excels in the slot doesn’t make him less of a player. Is Wes Welker not that good because he’s better in the slot than out wide?

You better believe that the Giants secondary will look to take a shot against him come week 15. Players remember things like that and the Giants are one of the most together teams in the league, cold tub incidents notwithstanding.
