Mike Freeman confirms per a team source that Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano has leukemia and will leave the team indefinitely.

First of all, I would like to say my prayers go out for Coach Pagano and his family and I hope he stays away from football as long as he needs to or perhaps for good if needed. He needs to be with his family.

What does this mean for the Colts? I hope that it means that the team will play even harder and have something else to play for. We knew that the Colts wouldn’t be a top team this year with all the changes and a rookie QB in Andrew Luck, but they haven’t been terrible. Luck has been good and maybe things will get even better as they play for Coach Pagano during his absence.

It will be different without the head man around, but I am sure someone will step in and keep things going just as they were. The offensive and defensive coordinators will just have to step up a little, along with Luck, and keep this team on the right track.

There’s no doubt that the Colts organization wishes that Coach Pagano didn’t get sick and could be with the team, but they understand that it’s more important for him to be away right now and maybe for good. Lets hope that they play for Pagano and this may give them a little extra to play for.
