NFL Rumors: CB Chris Carr Reported to Sign With San Diego Chargers

The news and rumors are going crazy as media outlets are reporting that the San Diego Chargers will sign Baltimore Ravens cornerback Chris Carr.

The Chargers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday with only 3 active corners on the roster. Shareece Wright has been hurt since the first game of the year, and the team kept signing Greg Gatson off of the practice squad for help.

Carr, posted a strange unsourced comment on his twitter account that simply said “San Diego Bound.” After that tweet, the media went crazy reporting that Carr, who recently spent time with the Ravens, was going to sign with the Chargers.  Michael Gehlken, San Diego Chargers beat writer Diego for UT San Diego, wrote that the team had agreed to terms with veteran Chris Carr. The Chargers organization did not make any such announcement on its official website.

Carr started 16 games for the Ravens in 2010 and then was slowed by injuries last season. He spent training camp with the Minnesota Vikings before being released on Aug. 31.

The Chargers (3-1) will take on the New Orleans Saints (0-4) on Sunday. The Saints run a spread offense, and the depth at cornerback will be crucial. But did Chargers management find the right corner, or did AJ Smith make another mistake as the teams General Manager?

If the Chargers do actually sign Carr, he’ll have to step in right away against one of the best passers in the history of the NFL, Drew Brees. The Saints are going to be hungry for their first win, and the Superdome is not an easy place to come out of with a victory as a visiting team.
