The New Orleans Saints continue to shuffle their roster as they announced today that they cut cornerback Elbert Mack and re-signed wide receiver Greg Camarillo. Mack did not originally make the 53-man cut but then the Saints brought him back after week two. Now Mack has been cut again but who knows if this will be the last Saints fans hear of Mack.

Camarillo was brought back to the team after being released on September 25. The Saints had been working out other wide receivers but opted to bring back Camarillo. It was reported earlier this week that the Saints had been working out wide receivers Jason Hill and Deon Butler. Today it was announced that the New York Jets signed Hill in lieu of Santonio Holmes’ foot injury.

The Saints were looking for depth at the wide receiver position and ultimately re-signed Camarillo today. Camarillo is a veteran receiver and has familiarity with the Saints as well as quarterback Drew Brees. Camarillo worked out with Brees over the summer and seems like the best bet for depth at the wide receiver position.

Maybe this time around the Saints will actually hold on to Camarillo. For that matter, the Saints could always bring back Mack too. The Saints are pretty set in their wide receiver corps but the secondary could use some depth. I would not be surprised if the Saints brought back Mack at some point this season.

The Saints have been shuffling the roster a lot this season but this time I think they should stick with Camarillo for good. He is a reliable receiver and will provide good depth for the Saints.
