Sean Payton Would Rather Talk About Bounties Than Answer Questions About Coaching Dallas Cowboys

So you think coaching the Dallas Cowboys is your dream job? Well it may interest you to know that not everyone wants to be the head coach of America’s Team.

At a speaking engagement in Texas this week the suspended New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was asked if he would like to coach the Cowboys? Replied Payton, “I’d rather answer a bounty question.”

Apparently it drew a nice laugh but his point was made. It’s tough to be a head coach in the National Football League but it’s even tougher to be the coach of the Dallas Cowboys. It’s not like Payton is just going off of what he’s been told, he was an assistant with the Cowboys for three years under Bill Parcells; he is well aware of what the head coach of the Cowboys goes through daily.

They say everything is bigger in Texas and it’s especially true with their love of football, particularly the Cowboys. It’s a big responsibility to be the coach of the Cowboys and having to deal with the giant media presence everyday cannot make the job any easier.

This also isn’t the first time Sean Payton has been asked about being the coach of the Cowboys either; there was speculation earlier this year about Payton returning to coach the team when he bought a new house in Dallas this past March. People in New Orleans didn’t like that one bit and the rumors were flying.

It seems like Payton was having some fun with the question and you can never say never. There are only 32 jobs in professional football and my guess is if the job was ever open and Payton was offered the gig, he’d take it.

It has to be offered first.
