The Detroit Lions are being very optimistic and hopeful in general that they can get help for their much beleaguered defense in week six. Getting S Louis Delmas back from injury would help out considerably, especially considering the team’s struggles in the secondary.
In early part of the 2012 NFL season Detroit has shown little ability to defend the pass. The Lions are at the bottom of the league in almost every category. Delmas is not a fix all solution to the issues that are present with the defense, but he would be a nice upgrade if he is able to come back at a 100%.
There have been a slew of changes and turnover in the secondary, which has probably contributed to the unit’s inconsistency. The organization hopes that Delmas will be able to return in his original target date of week six.
After the last few games against the Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings the Lions need Delmas now more than ever. If the Lions can cover the pass better it will allow that bid D-line of theirs to get to opposing teams quarterbacks.
