NFL Rumors: New York Giants WR Victor Cruz to Change Salsa Celebration?

When Victor Cruz caught a pass from Eli Manning down the left sideline against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 last year, no one could have predicted what soon followed. It looked to be a routine play with two Eagles converging on Cruz to make the tackle. Like he has done so many times to get to that point in his career, Cruz defied the odds, splitting the two defenders with a sick side-step and began tearing up the sideline.

As he admitted in his ESPN E:60 special, when he was running in for the score, he was thinking about his touchdown celebration. After he crossed the line, he threw the ball down and began to salsa. That game would prove to be his coming out party and he became one of the best big play receivers in the game.

He had many opportunities to salsa and had three more in this weekend’s showdown with the Cleveland Browns. Cruz caught three touchdowns, busting out his trademark salsa dance after all three.

But after so many chances (nine in 2011, five already this season), could Cruz be growing tired of his celebration?

“Stay tuned,” Cruz said after his 50 yard, three touchdown performance on Sunday. “I am not quite ready to let the cat out the bag, but there might be a little something.”

Uh oh. It appears Cruz does have something up his sleeve and hopefully he’ll score against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend so he can show us what he has in store.
