Robert Griffin III is giving a whole new meaning to the Washington Redskins fight song: “Hail to the Redskins”. Tight end and teammate Fred Davis had some high and even biblical praise for his teammate after the quarterback’s electrifying 76 yard touchdown sealed a 38-26 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
“You really can’t say much more,” Davis told CSN Washington via DC Sports Blog.”I mean, like I said, he’s Black Jesus right now. He saved us today. He’s a great player. He makes plays. And he did what he had to do on that third down. We’ve been talking about him protecting himself a lot more, but he seen an opening and made a play. And what can you say? I mean, he’s a great player.”
RG3 probably can’t turn Gatorade to wine, but he sure is one fast dude. The Washington Times clocked RG3 at 4.0 on the last 40 yards of his game-icing touchdown run; he did have a running head start, but you’ll notice that the Vikings’ cornerbacks and safeties did not have a hope of catching Griffin after he busted through the first layer of defense.
Griffin had a phenomenal game running for 138 yards and 2 touchdown and passing for 182 yards and 1 toucdown on 17 of 22 passes.
Griffin III was the Gatorade High School Track and Field Athlete of the Year and showed off that world class speed on Sunday. He will need to conjure another few miracles for the Washington Redskins to make the playoffs this year, but football fans across the country will watch in anticipation for the miraculous in the coming weeks.
