The Buffalo Bills have brought back one of their own, sort of by resigning former defensive end/ outside linebacker Shawne Merriman. When he was at the top of his game he was beyond a terror to other teams quarterbacks to say the least.
Shawne earned the nickname of “Lights Out” in high school football game where in one half he knocked out four of the opposing team’s players for the game.
While specifics aren’t clear how much we signed him for to bring him back or for how long but I’m betting it’s close to the NFL‘s veteran minimum salary and one year. If that’s all we signed him for, that’s a good deal in my eyes. It’s amazing how when you look up his age and think he’s over 30, but in fact he is only 28 years old, it just seems that he’s been playing a lot longer, at least to me.
I really wonder if did this because of the injury to Mark Anderson and it is more serious than what they originally thought. Or simply to give another spark to this defense and he’s actually going to play linebacker in the 4-3 which I think he can do it.
Either way he also brings a loud voice of leadership to a team that seemed lackluster to say the least after getting blown out in two weeks.
Thanks again for reading and I welcome you thoughts good, bad, and indifferent towards this and/or anything football related and the best way to do that is leaving a comment on here, or hitting me up on twitter @TheProfessorSD. Have a great day!
