The San Diego Chargers are making improvements during the teams bye week and has signed WR Danario Alexander to the team.
Alexander tweeted to his fans on Thursday that he has signed a contract with the Chargers. This, has given him another shot to play in the NFL after his career never took off when he was signed with the St Louis Rams because of endless injury problems.
He played 18 games and caught 46 passes in 2010 as well as 2011.
The Rams, cut him right after the end of the preseason and he spent some time working out with the Buffalo Bills. but he ended up being picked up by the Chargers and he will play for the team when they return from their bye week next week. Alexander, is 6 foot 5 and has the athleticism and skills to improve the Chargers offensive weapons, but the injuries that keept him from making an impact with the Rams, may come and bite the Chargers.
The Chargers, currently need all the help they can get on the offensive line and it may have a lot to do with still being out with an injury and he should be out for a while longer. Alexander, if he plays well and has an impact on the receiving corp Brown may not have a spot on the roster when and if he returns.
The Charger, would have to drop someone from the roster soon to make room for Alexander.
But, is Alexander the right WR for the Chargers?? Will it become a problem, that Alexander has been fighting injuries? Did AJ Smith and the Chargers organization screw up by signing a player who may become injuried before he is able to make an impact?
The Chargers, have not made an official announcement on signing Alexander at this time, but we believe they will make an announcement tomorrow.
