Each week we look at Sunday Stats as they pertain to that weeks Miami Dolphins match-up. We do not have an opponent for week 7, but we still have Sunday Stats! Let’s take a look at some season stats that are interesting for the 2012 ‘Phins. (article on Dolphins bye week history and strategy is HERE).

Miami is averaging 20.0 points per game, while they are yielding 19.5 points per games. The defense ranks in the top-10 for points allowed. Miami has allowed 14 or fewer points in 3 games (coincidentally those are Miami’s 3 wins this season).

Miami’s running game has struggled of late, and overall they are averaging just 3.8 yards per carry (only 6 teams are worse currently).

Brian Hartline has led the Dolphins in receiving yards in 4 of their 6 games (Davone Bess and Marlon Moore each have led once).

Ryan Tannehill is completing 66% of his passes in wins. He has 3 TDs and 0 INTs in wins.00

Tannehill is completing 55% of his passes in losses, and has just 1 TD vs 6 INTs in losses.

Miami was involved in a blowout loss week 1 to the Houston Texans, then blew-out the Oakland Raiders week 2. Since then they are 2-2 and all 4 games have been decided by 4 points or less (3 of them decided by 3 points).

Hartline and Bess each have 7 catches that went for 20+ yards.

Anthony Fasano leads the team with a TD catch in 2 games (Miami won both).

Sean Smith has almost twice as many pass deflections as anyone else on the team.

Only the New England Patriots have forced more fumbles than Miami. Koa Misi, Jimmy Wilson, Olivier Vernon, and John Denney all have forced multiple fumbles in 2012. Miami has only recovered 2 of those fumbles. They have lost 6 fumbles.

Miami has a turnover +/- of -3 (#23 in NFL).

Dan Carpenter is 4 for 4 in FGs under 40 yards. Anything 40+ Carp is just 3 for 7.

Miami is getting an average of 343 total yards per game on offense (#22 in NFL).

Miami has 110 first-downs (#19 in NFL).

On defense Miami has yielded 117 first-downs (tied for 16th in NFL).

Miami D is holding opponents to a 26% 3rd-down conversion percentage (#1 in National Football League).

Miami O is converting 40% of their 3rd-downs (top-dozen in NFL).

Cameron Wake ranks 4th currently in the NFL with 6.5 sacks (all of those have come the last 3 weeks).

Brandon Fields is top-5 for punt yards and net punt yards.
