Earlier in the season, it appeared that the New York Giants weren’t having fun. Jason Pierre-Paul especially complained about how there were too many expectations and he said that he wasn’t having as much fun as he did last season when he was one of the most dominant defensive lineman in the league and the Giants won the Super Bowl. Now it appears that the team is having fun. Why is that?
For one thing, the defensive line is starting to get to the quarterback like the team expected them to. The Giants have nine sacks in their past two games. When you start to get to the quarterback as a defensive lineman, you’re going to enjoy playing. When you dance Gangnam Style after a sack as well, it appears you are having fun. (Click here for JPP doing so.)
Winning cures a lot of ills as well, and winning three in a row, especially winning two at home in a place they have historically struggled at helps as well. When you win by two touchdowns against a team that has one win all year, then go on the road and beat the team looking for revenge against you for beating them in the NFC Championship game and beat them soundly, then pull out a comeback victory against your division rival that swept you last year, those things seem fun.
Now the Giants have to keep the good times rolling. The thing is, every week is a challenge, especially when you have the hardest schedule in the league and teams are going to get up for you because you are the champs. Let’s see what the Giants can do as we approach the halfway point of the season.
