NFL Rumors: Jimmy Graham Set To Return In Week 8
New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham missed the Saints’ 35-28 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Graham had been nursing an ankle injury he suffered back in week 5 against the San Diego Chargers.
Graham’s status was a game-time decision against the Buccaneers, but the Saints decided to hold him out. Furthermore, Graham did not make the trip to Tampa Bay and stayed in New Orleans to focus on healing his ankle.
This is good news for the Saints as it appears he will be ready to go in week eight when the Saints visit the Denver Broncos. The Saints will test out Graham during Wednesday’s practice and interim coach, Joe Vitt, said that “he has a good chance of being a full go.”
The Saints will be happy to get Graham back and luckily were only without him for one game. Graham is a matchup nightmare and constantly demands so much attention on the field. Even if Graham is not 100 percent, his presence alone will create opportunity for other Saints receivers on the field.
Through five games, Graham has hauled in 25 receptions for 252 yards and three touchdowns. If Graham does return against the Broncos I would expect a big game from him, and the Saints will certainly need it as the Broncos boast one of the better defenses in the NFL.
When Graham returns the Saints offense will have once again have their biggest weapon and at the very least their best decoy. Despite the ankle injury Graham is having a decent year and is still one of the best tight ends in the NFL. I would expect Graham to come back strong in week eight and help the Saints in their mid-season turn around.
