San Diego Chargers LB Shaun Phillips says team confidence has gone south
Norv Turner is not the only member of the San Diego Chargers that spoke to the media on Monday as the team returned to Chargers park after having a few days of because of the bye week.
Linebacker Shaun Phillips also met with the media, and like everyone else this week was asked for his thoughts regarding the allegations and when he found out about it.
“I got up to speed when I got back. As far as I know, I haven’t seen anyone use Stickum or anything like that. We just have to let the league take care of everything and keep on working to take care of what we need to take care of on our end.”
The league is taking care of everything and I got a quick statement from NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello when I sent him an inquiry regarding the process of the investigation and since media is reporting that the team could lose draft picks and get fined.
We are in the process of looking into the matter. We do not want to speculate on possible outcomes.
So, we have no more knowledge regarding the possible punishment that the Chargers may face but the NFL will continue its investigation and when Philips was asked if he had ever used this stickum substance he was quick to say that, since he plays on defense, he does not need to use it. So, is he saying that the team may use it but because he plays on defense he does not??
The feeling the team currently has in the lockerroom and according to him is bad and it’s not looking good as the confidence with the team is at an all time low.
“I wouldn’t say that the team confidence has gone south, but we do have to do a better job of finishing. That’s proven. But we take care of that by winning a football game. If we win a football game, some of those things go out the door. We have an opportunity to get better this week. We have gotten better as a team but we want to get better while we’re on the winning side of it, not get better on the losing side. We know that we’re going in the right direction and the key and cure-all to everything is winning.”
The Chargers, may be 3-3 in its division and will play the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland on Sunday to see if the team can get another win and go 4-3 in the conference, but that will be hard if the team is not in it to win it.
