In a recent Forbes fan survey, Ndamukong Suh and Troy Polamalu each received some unique honors.  Unfortunately for Suh, he came out with the not so honorable of the two recognitions.

Detroit Lions defensive-tackle Ndamukong Suh was voted as the least liked NFL player.  It is not really that surprising to me for a few reasons.

Suh was the number two overall pick by the Lions in the 2010 draft.  With that said, he is instantly a target through his popularity alone.

On top of that, the former Nebraska Cornhusker is quite nasty on the field.  So be it.  Suh plays an old-school brand of football and he likes to punish people.

One event in which I have trouble backing Suh however was in the famous “stomp” game against the Green Bay Packers.  Suh and Packers offensive-lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith were tangled up.  On the dismount, Suh laid down a stomp on Dietrich-Smith.  Roger Goodell was not to happy with this incident, and apparently fans were not fond of it either.

Suh is surely not liked by any Cincinnati Bengals or Chicago Bears fans.  He has been more than physical with Andy Dalton and Jay Cutler.  At least Kong showed some compassion the other night as he stood over Cutler appearing “worried” after he smashed him on Monday Night Football.

Fans were however happy to honor Troy Polamalu as the most-liked player.  I guess it’s safe to say those Head and Shoulders commercials are rubbing off on people.

On and off the field, Troy has to be admired, or at least respected by most other NFL players and fans.  The guy is a seven time pro-bowler and two time Superbowl champion.

Other players nearing the top of the most liked list were Drew Brees, Charles Woodson, Peyton Manning and Rob Gronkowski.

Other players nearing the top of the least liked list were Jay Cutler, Michael Vick, Randy Moss and Matt Leinart.

Regardless what all the fans say, Ndamukong Suh is loved in Detroit. It’s football, haters are a plus.
