NFL Rumors: Dallas Cowboys Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan Cries Over Losing Sean Lee
Everyone usually thinks injuries hit the fans the hardest, besides the player of course, but perhaps it hits the coaches hard as well. According to the NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones, Rex Ryan told Jones his brother and Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, cried when he heard the news of losing Sean Lee for the season.
Anyone wondering how the Lee’s injury will affect the Cowboys may look to Ryan’s reaction as a gauge to what the team will be missing. Lee’s absence will certainly be felt on the field but it’s also going to be felt in the locker room, where Lee was a leader.
Obviously the defense will miss Lee but perhaps the tears from Ryan were because Lee is the player who delivers Ryan’s message to his defensive teammates day in and day out. No player knew more about the Cowboys defense and the assignments of each player the way the way Lee did and Ryan has lost his vessel to get those messages across. Lee was a defensive captain and the player who communicated the most with Ryan so the tears are understandable.
The breakdowns of what Lee meant to the Cowboys have been all over the place in the past day and it seems like the person who is taking it the hardest maybe the man who knows him the best in Rob Ryan.
The Cowboys season will go on and it’s now up to Rob Ryan to get the defense to excel without his best player.
