For many years, Peyton Manning has been one of the best pitchmen in the NFL doing commercials and several Saturday Night Live skits. Now the Denver Broncos QB has pitched his way into partnering with Papa John’s Pizza to become a new franchisee for 21 stores in the Denver area.
Since the 2011 Super Bowl, when Manning joined the pizza chain for a promotion, he has been seen in several commercials with founder John Schnatter. This is a great opportunity for Manning being that he is towards the end of his career and will need something to latch on to when his playing days come to an end.
Papa John’s has been increasing its hold in the world of sports, especially since inking a deal in 2010 to become the official pizza of the NFL. They have also had the privilege of having their name on the college bowl game in Alabama from 2006 until 2011, as well as being the current title sponsor of the University of Louisville football stadium.
While Manning stayed away from the opportunity to become a minority owner of the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA(wife Ashley jumped on that), this business arrangement may be more suited to a light-hearted Manning that would thoroughly enjoy making commercials for himself.
“It’s a smart investment now and will be long after I’m done playing football,” Manning said.
So as you get to ordering pizzas, wings, breadsticks and other edibles, Broncos fans, just remember that even after Manning decides to call it a career, you will see plenty of him around the Denver area for a long time. Maybe John Elway would like to get in with the fun and offer free pizzas with any car sold throughout his many Denver area car dealerships, and who knows, maybe you will see two Hall of Fame QBs doing commercials together. Hopefully with both of them sporting Broncos championship rings!
