Peyton Manning was the most coveted free agent of the 2012 NFL offseason after being released by the Indianapolis Colts. The veteran quarterback eventually signed a contract with the Denver Broncos. This week, Manning signed a new contract, but this time with a business. Manning signed on to own 21 franchises of the third largest pizza company in the world, Papa John’s.
Manning has been a staple of Papa John’s advertising campaign with the NFL. Since appearing in a Super Bowl ad, Manning has been featured in commercials for the pizza chain, including this year’s advertisement of two million free pizzas throughout the NFL season.
On Sunday, the Denver Broncos host the New Orleans Saints in the weekly Sunday Night Football matchup. During the television broadcast, a new Papa John’s commercial will air featuring Manning and Papa John’s founder John Schnatter. In the advertisement, Manning will give viewers information on how they can become Papa John’s franchisees just as he did in the past week. Papa John’s is offering a special 2013 franchise deal that includes a 0% royalty for 18 months, no upfront franchise fee, and $50,000 in restaurant equipment.
Along with the franchise announcement, Papa John’s is promising to make another big announcement on Sunday. The company will offer a big treat for Halloween to its customers. With the company already set to give away two million pizzas to loyalty members, the announcement could be worthwhile to actually watch the commercials.
Papa John’s began its partnership with the NFL in 2010.The company is the official pizza of the league, and also has exclusive deals with several teams including: Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Redskins. The pizza chain has over 4000 locations in 32 countries, and is counting on new franchisees to expand the company going forward.
