New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham is regarded as one of the best tight ends in the NFL and he has definitely earned the praise. Everyone knows that Graham can catch the ball and is a huge target for the Saints. However, Graham is also one of the most complete tight ends in the NFL and one of the toughest.
Graham played in the week eight matchup against the Denver Broncos despite suffering an ankle injury back in week five. Graham’s ankle injury held him out of the Saints’ week seven victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Graham came back against the Broncos and recorded five receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Graham was still limited as his ankle was clearly not 100 percent. Graham also had two big drops in the game and it was evident that he could have performed better if not for his recovering ankle injury. Nonetheless, Graham had a good outing after returning from injury and I would expect him to have a big game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The third year tight end’s numbers have not been as spectacular as his sophomore campaign but are still giving the Saints solid production. In six games this season Graham has hauled in 30 receptions for 315 yards and four touchdowns.
Graham’s numbers will probably not be as high as last season but his production has been critical to the Saints’ offense this season. Graham is still one of the best tight ends in the NFL and the Saints are fortunate to have him on the team.
Furthermore, Graham is only in his third season and he could very well be one of the tight ends to ever play when it is all said and done. Graham is such a matchup problem for opposing defenses that even when he is not 100 percent he can still be effective.
I know Graham will come back in week nine and wreak havoc on the Eagles’ defense. Also, Graham will do everything he needs to do to help the Saints secure another win this season and he will continue to show why he is one of the best tight ends in the NFL.
