Picking the Spread: Week 9
Chicago Bears @ Tennessee Titans (+3.5)
I am on the Chicago Bears band wagon this year. Call me crazy but that defense is solid and can make up for Jay Cutler if he is having a bad day. In past years, the Bears offense has struggled to put points on the board but this year Cutler really is playing well. Last week was a close game against the Carolina Panthers and they don’t play as good on the road as they do at home but the Tennessee Titans have a hurt offensive line with four of their five starters nursing injuries so the Bears line is going to be licking their chops. It’s going to be all Chicago this week and I’m going all in on the Bears. The Bears easily win by more than four.
Buffalo Bills @ Houston Texans (-10.5)
I pick this in hopes that my pick of the Houston Texans will cause some universal alignment in the stars and the Buffalo Bills will pull out the huge underdog victory as I always would rather see my team win, rather than win a bet. With that being said, the Texans should go out and hand the Bills an easy loss. The Bills run defense is the talk of the league as one of the worst defense to ever come out onto the field. Arian Foster is having a tremendous year with 659 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season so far. I expect Foster alone to score enough to cover the spread. Houston takes this game to the house.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Giants (-3.5)
A lot of emotions are swirling around in New York. After an emotional win, when the New York Giants were up by 23 and allowed the Dallas Cowboys to come back and fight it out to make it a once score game, matched with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the Giants will be out to make a statement this week. With everything going on, the Pittsburgh Steelers are traveling to New York and also will be forced to travel on Sunday as they will be unable to find a hotel. They will be arriving shortly before the game starts and while it is a short trip, no one feels great after coming off an airplane. All signs are pointing to the Giants to have the clear advantage in this game and luck will not be on the side of the Steelers. Giants win by at least four this week.
Dallas Cowboys @ Atlanta Falcons (-4.5)
The Cowboys should have won last week against the Giants last week and I can bet they are pretty angry about it. I don’t think the Atlanta Falcons are going undefeated this season, and other than the Giants in December, this is the toughest game I think they play for the rest of the season. The Falcons have also been struggling as of late. They have been winning but some have been pretty ugly wins against pretty ugly teams, like the Panthers and the Oakland Raiders. The Cowboys are going to come out with all cylinders firing and are getting points so even if it is a close one, I still like the Cowboys to at least cover. I am going Cowboys in an upset win against the Falcons.
