Andrew Luck Breaks NFL Rookie Record

Thomas J. Russo – US Presswire

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck went off today and set a new NFL record for most passing yards in a game for a rookie as he threw for 433 yards.  Luck lead the Colts to a 23-20 victory over the Miami Dolphins at Lucas Oil Stadium in front of their home crowd.

Luck’s skills and maturity are way beyond his years and that was perfectly clear in this game.  The current number one overall draft pick threw balls on the run, stood tall in the pocket, didn’t turn the rock over, and continued to improve his chemistry with star veteran receiver Reggie Wayne.

On the day, Luck was 30/48 for 433 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Other beneficiaries of Luck’s monster game were rookie receiver T.Y. Hilton and Donnie Avery.  Hilton caught 6 balls for 102 yards with a touchdown, while Avery hauled in 5 balls for 108 yards.

Andrew Luck fantasy owners will never forget the day he had today. Especially the owners, like myself, who had Luck paired with Reggie Wayne.  Wayne had a healthy 7 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.

The league is full of young promising quarterbacks but it is safe to say Andy Luck will be in the thick of things for years to come.  As for a possible Rookie of the Year Award, Luck and Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III are in quite the battle.

While many have RGIII leading this race, Luck does have an impressive road win over the Green Bay Packers, and he just added a new NFL rookie record today.  Good luck boys.
