Denver Broncos Prove Winning Ugly Can be Pretty
The Denver Broncos proved on Sunday that they are on their way to becoming a very good football team. Was the win over the Cincinnati Bengals their best effort of the season, no. Was it a pretty win, no. Were there a lot of mistakes, yes. Here’s the point though, they found a way to win the football game. Even the best teams do not play well every week but the great teams find ways to win those games.
When the Bengals took the lead early in the fourth quarter, it may have been nervous time for some Broncos’ fans but that’s when Peyton Manning and the Broncos went to work. An average or below average team goes three and out in that situation, and the Bengals probably go onto a win. The Broncos found another gear and with the game on the line, they made the plays they needed to make. The offense scored to take the lead, the defense got a huge turnover and the offense scored again. That’s what good teams do, they win even when they do not play their best.
The Bengals had to have this game and were coming off of a bye week. In many respects, Sunday was the season for the Bengals and they played with that type of urgency. In the end, though, the better team won and the better team is the Denver Broncos. At the end of the season they don’t ask how you won; they just ask how many and right now the Broncos are 5-3 and on a 3 game winning streak. Ugly wins count just as much as pretty wins!
