Sean Payton: Contract Voided by NFL
Currently suspended New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has reportedly had his coaching contract voided by the NFL. I know there’s free agency for players but coaches? This could change the balance of the league if Payton could be no longer employed by the Saints as of the Super Bowl 47, which is ironically enough in the Mercedes Benz Superdome.
Payton would be an extremely hot commodity on the “free agent market” with a team like the Dallas Cowboys where Sean came from. He was the assistant head coach and in charge of the quarterbacks and coincidentally Dallas is having a down year when they expected to have a rebound year from last year’s .500 year and 6-10 the year before that. It’s also well known that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has seemingly unlimited resources especially if he sees even more dollar signs then what he put in.
With that being said; we might see loyalty to Saints owner Tom Benson from Payton, who could just sign a new contract with the Saints. However, time will tell in how this story breaks, develops, and ends. I think Payton stays put and resumes coaching duties for the Saints for the 2013 season. That’s just my take; what do you all think? I’d love to hear from you.
