The San Diego Chargers improved their record to 4-4 this season after they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday.

On the outside looking in, a casual fan may not think that San Diego’s victory over a 1-6 KC team was a must win, but San Diego lost three games in a row and was 1-4 in their last five games, so they needed Thursday’s game.

San Diego has to take things one game at a time because while it is better to beat a 1-6 team than to lose to them, it is nothing to hang their hats on especially considering that San Diego only led 10-6 heading into the fourth quarter.

San Diego’s next game is against the 3-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 11th.

Tampa Bay’s special teams have been big for them because while they rank 15th in the NFL in points per game allowed, they rank 27th in yards per play allowed.

San Diego should be able to have another big game on offense following a game in which they scored 31 points.

San Diego trails the 4-3 Denver Broncos for the AFC West lead.  San Diego will play the Broncos in Denver on November 18th which will be San Diego’s biggest game of the season.

San Diego has to avoid collapses in the fourth quarter because they led heading into the fourth in two of their four losses.

Thursday’s win against Kansas City was a step in the right direction for the Lightning Bolts.

As far as the rest of the season is concerned, only time will tell if this was a spring board for them.
