Why the NFL Deserves an All-Manning Super Bowl
When Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning came back to the NFL this year an idea popped back in my head. This idea was something any NFL fan could relate to, the All-Manning Super Bowl. Can you think of the commercial possibilities? The amount of viewership? This is a matchup that only the NBA could relate to with Kobe Bryant vs. Lebron James.
This is a matchup that would be bigger than the game. Eli Manning and the New York Giants vs. Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. I can already hear the announcers voice. All major networks would cover it 24/7. People just wouldn’t be able to get enough of it. Fans would walk around with “Team Peyton” and “Team Eli” shirts like it was Twilight. There is no limit to the the marketing ideas.
We are talking about the most famous athletic family in sports history. The only thing that would make it better is if Tim and Matt Hasselbeck were their backups. However, that could be just for me. Also, Tim is out of the NFL, so this would be impossible.
If Peyton won, fans would consider it the greatest comeback of all time. His neck injury is something that most athletes wouldn’t even try to come back from. If Eli won, it would be a great victory for the city of New York. The amount of pain and suffering this great city had to endure because of Hurricane Sandy. The way the nation rallied around a region to help is what this country is all about.
The excitement is bubbling. Fans can imagine the possibilities. Could you imagine what their parents would be going through? Who would they root for? It would be a story in itself. All of America would gather to watch two brothers fight on America’s biggest stage.
The “All Manning” Super Bowl is something that can happen. It’s not real yet, but if both teams are in the playoffs come January I would root for this matchup over my hometown team. The NFL needs, wait, deserves an All-Manning Super Bowl. I am “Team Peyton”, what side are you on?
