The San Diego Chargers will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in Tampa at 10:00 AM PDT.  San Diego has an 8-1 record all-time against Tampa Bay with their last victory coming in the 2008 NFL season.

San Diego is coming off a 31-13 win against the Kansas City Chiefs while Tampa Bay had a 42-32 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

San Diego’s defense will have their hands full because Tampa Bay’s offense ranks first in the NFL with an average of 6.2 yards per play.  Tampa Bay also ranks fifth in the NFL with an average of 28.2 points per game.

Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman ranks second in the NFL with an average of 8.1 yards per pass attempt, fifth in touchdown passes and ninth in QB rating.

Former Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson ranks seventh in the NFL in receiving yards per game and TD receptions.

Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin averages 5.2 yards per rushing attempt and ranks second in the NFL with an average of 99.2 rushing yards per game.

San Diego allows 3.7 yards per rushing attempt which ranks fifth in the NFL while they allow 6.9 yards per pass attempt which ranks 12th in the league.

Philip Rivers should have a big game against Tampa Bay’s secondary because they allow eight yards per attempt which ranks 27th in the NFL.

Tampa has a great run defense because they allow 3.4 yards per attempt which ranks first in the NFL.  San Diego ranks 18th in the NFL with an average of 3.9 yards per rushing attempt.

San Diego and Tampa Bay have a 4-4 record while San Diego is 2-2 on the road and Tampa Bay is 2-2 at home.  I expect a close battle with Tampa Bay winning 38-31.
