Giants vs. Bengals NFL Week 10 Preview
The New York Giants head to Cincinnati to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in their Week 10 match-up. The Giants will look to rebound from their dismal offensive performance last week against another AFC North team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. One loss shouldn’t be that big of a deal for a 6-3 team, but if you know the Giants’ recent history, that loss is a concern.
The Bengals are coming into this game with problems of their own as well. They have lost four straight games and have fell to 3-5 after a 3-1 start. If the Bengals want to make the playoffs, this game at home against the defending champions is critical.
A win over the Giants can really propel the Bengals going forward. A win for the Giants can also propel them as well. They have a bye next week, and then they’ll head into a difficult stretch of their season. A loss for the Giants can really loosen the grip they currently have on the NFC East.
So what do these teams have to do in order to win this game? There are many keys to the success of the Giants and the Bengals, and they’ll need to unlock those formulas for success in order to win.
The Giants will need a much better performance from QB Eli Manning. He has thrown for under 200 yards in three of the past four games after throwing for at least 200 yards in 24 straight games. The Bengals defense is not a shut down defense, so the Giants will have opportunities to make plays. The key will be WR Hakeem Nicks. He has limited the offense by taking the field and not playing at 100%. He will be the x-factor. If he isn’t close to 100% healthy, he will hurt this offense. He should consider sitting games out until he can get close to perfect health.
The Bengals will need a high dose of QB Andy Dalton and WR A.J. Green to win this game. Green has already done some talking, stating the Giants defense has a lot of holes in it. Green is most likely to back up his talk from a personal standpoint. Dalton loves to go to Green in any circumstance. Green is one of the leading receivers in the NFL in pretty much every category. TE Jermaine Gresham needs to be involved as well.
Defensively for both teams, they need to be better. Both teams ranks worse than 20th in the league in total defense. The Giants know they have to lean on their pass rush to get to Dalton. The Bengals secondary will need to copy the Steelers methods if they want to stop the Giants passing attack. They need to jam as much as possible in order to force Manning to wait a second or two.
This game will turn out to be a great one, as both teams will be playing with a sense of desperation. The Giants seem to play better on the road and when their backs are against the wall. This seems like the perfect game for them. The Giants will take this one 23-14.
