Vincent Brown was a third round pick by the San Diego Chargers in the 2011 NFL Draft. Brown started four games last season, averaged 24 receiving yards per game and had two touchdown receptions in 14 games.
According to Michael Gehlken of utsandiego.com, Brown hopes to be ready to practice at some point this month.
Brown led San Diego with 81 receiving yards against the Green Bay Packers in San Diego’s first preseason game while he had two TD receptions in two preseason games.
There was talk that Brown had a shot at starting this season before his injury happened.
San Diego ranks 19th in the NFL with 175 receptions, they rank 22nd with 233 receiving yards per game and average 10.7 yards per reception which ranks 27th in the league.
Brown had six receptions, 112 receiving yards and two TD receptions in two preseason games this year while he averaged 17 yards per reception last season.
San Diego needs a boost at the wide receiver position because of where they rank as a team in important categories.
San Diego running back Ronnie Brown ranks second on the team with 42 receiving yards per game and no one on the team except Malcom Floyd averages at least 45 receiving yards per game.
Danario Alexander ranks second among San Diego’s wide receivers with an average of 31 receiving yards per game.
I do not have major expectations from Brown this season, but he would be a welcomed addition to a team struggling at the WR position.
