Predictions: NFL Week 10
Predicting Week 10 NFL Action
Well, week 9 of the NFL season is in the books. We had some high scoring matchups, some close games, and some great defense. However, in the NFL week 10 is the only thing that matters now. What will be the best game, upset of the week, and biggest blowout? All of these questions I aim to answer in my week 10 NFL predictions.
The Atlanta Falcons are still undefeated. Can they go the distance? I don’t think they can do it, but I’m sure there are a lot of Falcons fans that disagree with me. They have some holes on defense they will need to address if they want to be the 1972 Miami Dolphins. It’s hard, just ask the New England Patriots.
Every week a new team surprises us with their effort. Last week, it was the Chicago Bears. They destroyed the Tennessee Titans, but can they do it again against the much better Houston Texans? We will have to wait and see.
The NFL is a hard place to succeed. Each week teams face challenges due to injuries, lack of effort, poor coaching, the list goes on and on. The great teams are able to overcome these natural parts of the game and keep going. This year the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs have not done that. They are currently in a battle for last place in the NFL and the number 1 pick in the NFL draft.
The players are ready for this week’s NFL action, are you? Here are my predictions for week 10 of the 2012 NFL season, enjoy.
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Indianapolis Colts have won 4 out of their last 5 games and are looking to continue that streak on Thursday Night Football. QB Andrew Luck passed for a rookie record over the weekend with 433 yards. The Jaguars are struggling hard at this point in the season with one lone victory over the Colts. They won’t get lucky twice. Luck looks like a season veteran a times.
Prediction: The Colts ride their Luck to a 6-3 record. Colts 27, Jaguars 13
New York Giants at Cincinnati Bengals
New York Giants QB Eli Manning did not look too hot in loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cincinnati Bengals got “Peyton Manninged” in the fourth quarter in a loss. Both teams need this victory, but Eli has made a career out of getting victories in these types of situations. Andy Dalton has been impressive since coming into the NFL, but he is still very young.
Prediction: The Giants defense makes an appearance this weekend. Giants 21, Bengals 10
Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins
Matt Hasselbeck and the Titans are coming off a blowout loss to the Bears. The Dolphins lost a close one to the Colts. This is a must win game for the Dolphins. They are 4-4 and still in the playoff hunt. The Titans not so much. Chris Johnson needs to have a huge game and the Titans defense needs to step up in a big way. I think they can do it.
Prediction: Hasselbeck bounces back from an embarrassing loss. Titans 27, Dolphins 20
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings
Both of these teams surprised people with the way they started the season. The last two weeks have looked like what we expected from the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. Vikings QB Christian Ponder threw for only 63 yards in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Adrian Peterson went nuts in Seattle, but he’d take a team win over a huge effort any day of the week.
Prediction: QB Matthew Stafford Lights up the Mall of America Field. Lions 31, Vikings 20
Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots
We come to the “blowout” of the week. The Patriots will put on a show in front of the home crowd on Sunday. RB Stevan Ridley will have a huge game against the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots will come out of the gates running the football and eventually Tom Brady will come into the picture and start picking the Bills secondary apart. He will eventually finish with around 250 yards passing and three TDs.
Prediction: The Bills are not gonna have a good time. Patriots 41, Bills 16
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
This is my upset of the week. The problem the Falcons are going to run into on Sunday is the fact the Drew Brees is the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons will be playing on the road and the pressure of the undefeated season will be too much. Brees throws for over 400 yards and has 4 TD in the air and one on the ground.
Prediction: Fantasy owners are going to ask for Brees’ hand in marriage. Falcons 24, Saints 35
San Diego Chargers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is the first of my two games of the week. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense is starting to fire on all cylinders. The combination of QB Josh Freeman and RB Doug Martin is an offensive explosion. I am not ready to give up on Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers. They are going to surprise people this week with their ability to go toe to toe with one of the best scoring offenses in the league.
Prediction: Martin slows way down in a close defeat. Chargers 24, Buccaneers 21
Denver Broncos at Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are coming off an impressive win against Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. They needed that victory, but Griffin III is no Peyton Manning. He will continue his current winning streak and embarrasses QB Cam Newton in the classiest of ways. Look for the Broncos running game to get going early.
Prediction: Cam Newton aka “Superman” keeps his reporter jacket on as Clark Kent. Broncos 31, Panthers 16
Oakland Raiders at Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have looked very good this year. Their only two losses are against the Texans and Philadelphia Eagles. The Oakland Raiders have some weapons, but for some reason they can’t play all four quarters. Their only quality win on the season came against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Raiders will not be able to stand up to the Ravens on both sides of the ball.
Prediction: QB Carson Palmer finds a way to lose. Raiders 19, Ravens 27
New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks cannot lose at home. The 12th man is too much for one team to handle. Marc Sanchez and or Tim Tebow will not enjoy the sound level and self destruct before the second quarter begins. The Seahawks will get their run defense going after a poor effort against Adrian Peterson. Finally, the Seahawks secondary will enjoy a round of “smack talk” with New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan and back it up.
Prediction: Marshawn Lynch enjoys his skittles early and often. Jets 10, Seahawks 30
St. Louis Rams at San Francisco 49ers
The St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers are both coming off their bye week. The 49ers were hot, but the Rams were not. They have lost three straight games and that trend looks to continue. However, if Alex Smith plays like he did against the Vikings in week 3 or the Giants in week 6, Sam Bradford and the Rams could have a chance. In the end, Frank Gore and the number 1 rushing offense will take the Rams to school.
Prediction: The 49ers defense is too good right now. Rams 13, 49ers 20
Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles
Dallas Cowboys’ QB Tony Romo doesn’t seem like he is having any fun. The same could be said about Eagles’ QB Michael Vick. Both of these players have been hit hard by the “media hatin’ on them bug” and need to start having some fun. The Eagles should also get RB LeSean McCoy back into the game and the Cowboys would like to see a healthy DeMarco Murray. He could be ready for this game, but I guess we will have to wait til Jerry Jones says something because apparently he is the head trainer for the Cowboys.
Prediction: Vick starts having fun before Romo. Cowboys 14, Eagles 24
Houston Texans at Chicago Bears
This is my second game of the week. However, I feel the difference in this game will be the Bears’ defense. Texans’ RB Arian Foster is going to struggle along with the entire Texans’ offense. QB Jay Cutler is having a good season, but could be more efficient at times. If his defense stumbles I’m guessing he will be there to pick up the slack.
Prediction: RB Matt Forte scores 2 TDs, one on the ground and one via the reception. Texans 17, Bears 24
Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers
This is my least exciting game of the week. The Kansas City Chiefs would have been better off taking a knee the entire game against the Chargers. The Steelers are going to run the ball down the Chiefs throat and they will do nothing to stop it. QB Ben Roethlisberger might get into the action, but only if the Chiefs get lucky and bomb a few over the top to WR Dwayne Bowe or Jamal Charles breaks one down the sideline.
Prediction: Fans are going to prefer watching paint dry over this Monday Night Matchup. Chiefs 6, Steelers 24.
49ers 2015 Training Camp Profile: LB NaVorro Bowma
In the midst of all the losses the 49ers have suffered this year, the re-emergence of a certain player could have a huge factor in their effectiveness this season. Read More
Is Todd Bowles already one of the worst coaches in the league?
Everybody seems to love Todd Bowles. Well, except for this guy, who ranked the Jets head coach as one of the worst in the league. Read More
