For whatever reason, athletes have always had an interest in music and Atlanta Falcons safety, Thomas DeCoud is no different. Ranked among the league leaders in interceptions, DeCoud may have launched his career as a singer in a commercial for the NFL’s Green Initiative.

In the commercial, DeCoud “encourages” Falcons fans to “Rise Up”, using a falsetto that even Prince would have to be proud of. What makes this commercial funny is the Falcons safety actually sounds like he could be a decent singer if he tried. Hopefully he won’t quit his day job just yet as a key part of the Falcons secondary.

The commercial is a part of the NFL’s Green Initiative to encourage people to use less water by taking showers of five minutes or less. Apparently, if you do this you can save 4,500 gallons of water per year. DeCoud said in an interview that he was approached by the Falcons media commercial due to him being from California and “a little bit on the green side”.

The commercial which can be found on YouTube has not went completely viral yet but by the time Atlanta tangles with the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football it will probably be a hit. Personally, I think this is way better than Chicago Bears Super Bowl Shuffle in 1985 but then again I could be a little biased. At any rate, it is easily the best commercial out right now featuring an athlete from the NFL.
