The San Diego Chargers need their defense to step up
Tampa Bay ranks first in the NFL with an average of 14.5 yards per reception.
San Diego gives up 6.9 yards per pass attempt which ranks 12th in the NFL.
It will take a big effort from Quentin Jammer, Antoine Cason and the rest of the secondary to slow down former teammate Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams.
Jackson and Williams have combined to average 152 receiving yards per game with 11 TD receptions and they combine to average 20 yards per reception.
This will be a major key to slowing down Tampa Bay who ranks first in the NFL with an average of 6.2 yards per play on offense.
Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin ranks second in the NFL with an average of 99 rushing yards per game and averages 5.2 yards per rushing attempt which ranks eighth in the league.
San Diego gives up 3.7 yards per rushing attempt which ranks fifth in the league.
If San Diego’s defense slows down Tampa Bay’s offense, it should give the Chargers a great chance to win because Tampa Bay gives up 6.1 yards per play which ranks 28th out of 32 teams.
It will be a challenge for San Diego to put pressure on Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman because Tampa’s offensive line has only given up 12 sacks which ranks fifth in the NFL.
San Diego’s defense will be the key to victory for them in tomorrow’s game.
