Buffalo Bills Midseason Offensive Position Grades
Hi there, and it is the midseason for the Buffalo Bills and it’s time to grade the team’s performance by position, and yes I agree with all of the fans of the team we expected much more. I will be doing the offense and defense on separate slide shows, but every position will be grouped, and kickers will be with the offense and punters will be with the defense.
When I say I expected more, I thought we could have hung in with the New England Patriots on week three in Buffalo since we did beat them with a last second field goal last year, versus a team like that level, I would take that today in week 10 or any week versus a better team.
There were teams I thought we should have beat that we lost to; week seven versus the Tennessee Titans we lost by one point and that one deflated a lot of the fan's hopes for the 2012 season. The other game was Week one when we got blown out by the New York Jets, but this is just my take, what do you all think about my grades for the offense? Let me know! Do not include today’s game versus the Patriots when you consider your comments.
Once again thank you for reading one of my articles, and I heavily encourage discussion especially on a topic likes this so either leave a comment on here, hit me up on twitter @TheProfessorSD or I am using Google+ so if you could +1 this and any other article of mine you’ve read and liked. I will discuss this article or anything else you’d like football related! Have a great day!
Ryan Fitzpatrick has been about the same as he always has been, hotter then a fire for moments then turn colder than an igloo at the worst possible time. Fitzpatrick has 15 touchdown passes this year and 10 interceptions with 1,674 yards passing. Decent Stats; not great not awful, however at least one of those interceptions has cost us a game, like the one versus the Titans at the end.
My midseason grade: C+
Running Back Grade
It is an absolute delight to watch, and a sweet luxury to have two excellent running backs in C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. These guys are the real deal and you don't have to design packages to each halfback as some teams seemingly have to. Jackson and Spiller have combined for only five touchdowns, but 780 yards of rushing is a very good number for the midpoint of the season.
My midseason grade: A-
Wide Receiver Grade
Losing the 6' 5" David Nelson for the year early this season has hurt his team more then anyone can imagine. That being said the receiver corps has put up decent numbers, with the now leader, Stevie Johnson has amassed 35 catches for 416 yards and four touchdowns. and the other receivers have not be neglected that much, which is good in the long run.
My midseason grade: B+
Offensive Linemen Grade
This group has been the bright spot for the team as they have been led by veteran interior linemen Eric Wood and Andy Levitre. Even monster rookie left tackle Cordy Glenn has been playing amazing when healthy. I think for the most part, this has been the most consistent group on the 2012 Bills.
My midseason grade: A
Bills kicker Rian Lindell is now 35 years old and is still playing at a great level, this year he is only 8/9 in trying field goals this year as it has been feast or famine for the Bills offense. When it has been feast and there have been touchdowns being scored, Lindell hasn't missed a single extra point.
My midseason grade: B+
