Pittsburgh Steelers Midseason Grades

Jim O'Connor-US Presswire

As we round the turn and make our way into the NFL home stretch it is time to take a look at how the Pittsburgh Steelers have performed in the first half of the year. This list is offensive and defense, starters and backups, guys who have contributed and those who haven't(but should have). I pull no punches on these grades so I expect some disagreement.

When the season started I ranked the Steelers starters on offense and defense. When I did that, my plan was to rank them again at this point. But with so many injuries, and so many players filling in, it didn't seem right to simply rank the 11 on each side of the football who were starting now.

This has been an up and down season for the Steelers after starting the year 2-3 they have rattled off 3 in a row and now sit as a playoff team and in control of their own destiny with 5 division games on tap. Getting them to this point has really been a true team effort as injuries have made it's way through this team and reserves have had to step their game up and deserve to be included in this list. I am going to divide my list by grades.

All A Honor Roll-These are the guys who've stepped up week after week and been the most important players at the most important moments

B Honor Roll- A step down, but still on the roll. Players who've had their games come around the the past few weeks, or have had moments that you feel they can build on.

Average C-This is where so many of everyone's team is. They are players that show up every week, play hard and don't do a whole to help the team win, but do even less to help them lose.

D is for don't let them down-This group is highlighted by the players with the furthest to to climb when it comes to development. Not terrible players by any means but well below the groups above them.

F is for future is unclear-These are players who have underperformed on such a level that they must be concerned about whether or not there is a spot for them on this team next year.

Incomplete-This list is reserved for the guys who were supposed to have an impact but the opportunity has been taken out of their hands, either by forces out of their control or of their doing.

So without further ado, here are my Steelers midseason grades.
