Bye Week comes at good Time for Tennessee Titans
Even though the players are off for the remainder of the week, the Tennessee Titans coaches are just beginning their work load for the Bye week. In an interview after the Titans blew out the Miami Dolphins on Sunday head coach Mike Munchak made a comment that he preferred to have the Bye week in the middle of the season.
While the Bye week comes at a good time for the Titans for a few reasons. First and foremost, and I have said it a lot lately, but they had the second hardest schedule in the NFL next to the Dallas Cowboys. I know many people see a record of 4-6 and think that they team isn’t good, that’s not the case. The Titans are a good team; they have just been playing really good teams.
Another reason the Bye week couldn’t have come at a better time? Look at what the team did against the Dolphins last week. Going into week ten, they were the worst ranked defense in the NFL. They had given up an average of 30 points per game this season. After four interceptions and 37 points the confidence is restored from what otherwise was taken away by the Chicago Bears.
The Titans have six games left in the regular season. Four of those games are division match ups. This is critical for the outcome of their season. They are still a playoff contender. If they manage to get wins against the Indianapolis Colts, and in both games against the Jacksonville Jaguars they could do it. A win against the Houston Texans will be tough to do, but it is not impossible.
The other two teams that the Titans will face in the last part of the 2012 season are the Green Bay Packers and then their Monday Night matchup against the New York Jets. The team still has a lot to look forward to and there are still plenty of chances to make the playoffs.
