Nobody expects the Arizona Cardinals to win this week on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. They did not play in week 10 and still dropped to number 22 in the NFL Power Rankings. NFL writers could be just softening the blow for this weekend’s game when the Cardinals lose their 6th game in a row.

The Cardinals have been decimated by injuries this year and are 32nd in rushing yards and 20th in passing yards this season. This is not a recipe for success by any stretch of the imagination. Their inability to move the ball when needed behind QB John Skelton is the reason this team struggles so much. The defense is actually quite good and will go into Sunday’s game against the Falcons with a secondary that ranks 2nd in the league.

This could be, in part, because the teams they are playing know they don’t have to put up a lot of points to win, so they run the ball and limit their mistakes.  The last thing any team wants is CB Patrick Peterson intercepting the ball and going the distance for a quick 6 points.

This team is still competing despite what their record says. These past 5 losses are a hard pill to swallow, but until this team gets healthy, which may not be till next year, they are not going to be a fun team to watch. However, if Kevin Kolb returns this year the Cardinals will have a fighting chance. Until then, fans are going to have to settle for another check in the loss column.
