NFL Rumors: New Orleans Saints Say Members of Atlanta Falcons Disrupted Their Pregame Warmups
Prior to the New Orleans Saints 31-27 victory over the previously undefeated Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon in the Superdome, members of the Falcons have been accused by members of the Saints for walking through and disrupting their pregame warmups.
According to Saints linebackers Scott Shanle and Jonathan Vilma, Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon and defensive tackle Johnathan Babineaux both deliberately walked through the Saints pregame warmup activities to talk trash before the game and to also taunt former Falcons and current Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton, as well.
“They were talking (expletive) to our guy Curtis Lofton,” Shanle said, “I couldn’t even understand them. They were just walking all over our drills to mess with him. Vilma went and told their coaches it was classless and they didn’t even say anything. It set the tone for the day. It was classless and they got what they deserved.”Shanle also stated that in his 10 years in the NFL, he had never seen anything like it before.
According to a source, Falcons head coach Mike Smith will not address his team about the alleged incident, which could lead to more trouble for the Falcons in the near future. The two division rivals are set to square off again (in Atlanta this time at the Georgia Dome) in just a few weeks on November 29 on Thursday Night Football. If the Saints used that for motivation this past Sunday and now they are aware that the Falcons players haven’t even been reprimanded for it then they could view the entire situation as blatant disrespect from the entire Falcons organization.
