Week 11 Position Battle #2: Mario Williams Versus Jonathan Martin

Williams, Mario 6

Kevin Hoffman-US PRESSWIRE

Here is the second position battle for week 11 of the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins for a big Thursday night division game. This time it’s a role reversal from the first battle as it’s between star left end Mario Williams and rookie right tackle Jonathan Martin.

Most Bills fans see Willams’ season as a failure so far with only four and a half sacks in nine games since the Bills made him the richest defensive player in NFL history. Granted he has warranted double and sometimes triple teams as opposing teams are respecting him this much, so other guys should step up and create havoc when this happens. Williams has fared better against rookie offensive linemen such as Arizona Cardinals’ rookie Bobby Massie where he had two of his sacks.

Martin was a second round draft pick for the Dolphins out of Stanford where he was Andrew Luck’s blind side tackle. So far as the right tackle for the Dolphins, he has helped open up holes for running backs Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas not to mention help keep rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s jersey as clean as possible.

Let’s go to the tale of the tape between Mario Williams and Jonathan Martin:
