The San Francisco 49ers probably weren’t expecting this when they came to practice today. Head coach Jim Harbaugh wasn’t there. It turns out he was in the hospital for an irregular heartbeat. Here is the statement from the organization;

“Coach Harbaugh is not at the facility today under doctor’s orders. He is having a minor procedure done at Stanford Hospital today for an irregular heartbeat. We anticipate that he will be back at the facility tomorrow, but do not have any further information to share at this time. Assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Brad Seely will be overseeing today’s practice and meetings. When more information regarding coach Harbaugh is available we will pass that along.”

Harbaugh is a tough as nails coach and has really helped lead the 49ers back to among the NFL‘s elite. I think what we can take away from the statement is that they expect him to be back with the team tomorrow which is a very good sign. I think what helps also is that the team will be playing Monday Night this week which could give him an extra day to recover. Whenever some problem comes up with your heart, it’s something that you definitely need to take care of and fast. This is one of those times when you need to put football on the back burner and take care of your health.

We here at Rant Sports hope coach Harbaugh makes a speedy recovery and hope that this is nothing serious.
