The San Diego Chargers have a brutal schedule ahead of them

The San Diego Chargers have a 4-5 record this season and trail the Denver Broncos by two games for the AFC West lead.

San Diego also trails the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers by two games for a wild card spot.

San Diego has a brutal schedule coming up because they will play the 6-3 Broncos on Sunday in Denver, they face the 7-2 Baltimore Ravens next week in San Diego and they will play the 6-3 Steelers in Pittsburgh in three weeks.

San Diego is 0-3 this season against teams that currently have a winning record.  The Lightning Bolts lost their last two games against Denver and are 1-8 in their last nine games against Pittsburgh.

San Diego has a 4-4 record all-time against Baltimore which includes a 34-14 win in the 2011 NFL season, but I do not expect San Diego to have such an easy time with the Ravens again.

While San Diego has a 4-5 record, a positive way for Chargers fans to look at this is that San Diego has a tendency to finish seasons strong.

San Diego finished the 2004 season 9-1 in their last 10 games, they finished the 2005 season 6-3 in their last nine games, they finished the 2006 season 10-0 in their last 10 games and they were 6-0 in their last six games in 2007.

San Diego had a 4-0 record in their last four games in 2008, San Diego finished the 2009 season 11-0 in their last 11 games, they were 7-2 in their last nine games in 2010 and they were 4-1 in their last five games last season.

The Lightning Bolts have figuratively shot themselves in the feet too many times this season by blowing leads, and time will tell if they are able to overcome their terrible play at times.
