What should the Tennessee Titans really be focused on during this Bye week?

Here’s the thing, yes there is still a lot of football to be played, but realistically what are the chances that the Tennessee Titans are actually going to make it into the playoffs? It is still possible, don’t get me wrong. But like last year, they need a lot to happen to other teams in order for it to happen.

Last year the Titans were able to prevail over the Houston Texans in the last game of the regular season. That isn’t going to happen this year and they cannot afford to let their season rest on the shoulders of other teams. They have four very important division games left-I’ve said it before and I will say it again, they can’t afford to lose against the Jacksonville Jaguars or Indianapolis Colts.

Something that is really going to play into the wins during these finals weeks is the receivers that they go to in the next six games. From the games watched this season I have come to one conclusion, even though Chris Johnson seems like he is back to his old self, there are clear match ups that work better. Matt Hasselbeck and Chris Johnson are clearly great match up. On the other hand, Jake Locker and Kendall Wright seem to have their own little thing going on.

What are they going to do about the defense? Here is the thing, sure they have had a couple good games, but they have not played every game the way they played last week against the Miami Dolphins. Look at the game against the Chicago Bears, who have, arguably, the best defense in the league. They got murdered.

Something needs to change and it’s nothing new. They knew that going into the 2012 NFL Draft, that they needed help with defense. The offense is fine, look at all the above mentioned wide receivers and running backs. The team is stacked; they just need to execute a little better.
